The Scrap Scarf
We couldn't bare to toss these beautifully dyed bits of fabric in the trash, so we've designed a scarf that's sewn almost completely from scraps. Inspired by quilting and patchwork techniques, we slowly piece together each scarf into this striped pattern.
One-of-a-kind! We couldn't bare to toss these beautifully dyed bits of fabric in the trash, so we've designed a scarf that's sewn almost completely from scraps. Inspired by quilting and patchwork techniques, we slowly piece together each one into a graphic pattern.
PATCHWORK
It takes 84 stripes (cut with care) to create one scarf. This specific scarf is sewn in a combination of deadstock and cotton scraps. What is deadstock? It is unused fabric that has been abandoned for a handful of different reasons. Sometimes brands overestimate their needs, a fabric mill might produce too much, or a dye house doesn’t match a color perfectly. Whatever the reason, it needs to find a new home.
FILLING
The interior filling is natural Kapok — a vegan sustainable fiber from the Ceiba Tree. This seriously soft fluff is harvested from naturally fallen seed pods and is hypoallergenic. It is encased in a lightweight cotton muslin that can be easily accessed through an invisible zipper, for care/cleaning.
UNDYED COTTON
  • Designed and sewn in CA
  • 8 oz. cotton
  • Corozo buttons (nut based)
  • White contrast stitching
  • Pre-washed and shrunk
  • Model: Size small (5' 8")
  • Size Guide
